Level the rails on the log so the first plank is flat

This is the first clean slab from the log.  Note the fine grain.

Cut the rails off the log so a flat surface is made for the next planks.

This is the last slab that could be taken from the log.  Andy is 6'5

After planking out that log, this is all that's left. Big piles of sawdust and wood to be carted away.  The trunk of the fallen tree that was cut for these logs and planks is in the upper right.  The center of the stump was hollowed out when it fell over. The root ball measures apx 10 ft (3 m) tall.
smantrom > Screaming through the next slab 
The chainsaw is on wide open throttle and screaming.  Sawdust flies everywhere.  This is what it looks like while the slab is being cut.
